old review

Malhavoc
Age Of The Dark Renaissance
[Independant]

When me and the mighty Chor first met, it was our fondness for old metal (black/thrash and the likes) that brought upon our friendship. I freaked that he had this still in his collection. It is another item that I've hogged for the longest time. Mlotek can also attest to my lack of promptness returning stuff. I forget sometimes, sorry guys. In Toronto, all local bands (Sacrifice and Malhavoc, amongst others) would hang out at the Record Peddler (the temple of thrash, no cooler store existed) during it's days across from the Gardens. Listening to Agg Rock (88.1) was also the ritual, actually it still is. That period in time was amazing as bands from those days would become the heroes of today. Malhavoc were really underrated and this release was very dark with a mature sound bearing resemblance to the cult band Tormentor. Search for it or bug ChorazaiM for a copy, whenever I give it back that is.

"Mal Havoc" - "The Lord of Middle Earth"

Major thanks to Simon Oates for spotting this!

So last night, I'm watching an old episode of "World's Greatest Super Friends" called "Lord of Middle Earth". And just as I'm marveling at the bizarreness of Superman and Batman chasing trolls through tunnels and whatnot, wondering how it can get much weirder, this guy shows up and says his name is MALHAVOC!?!?!!

Ramones cover song, done more like DEVO !

The last original Ramones member died recently (Tommy, the drummer).
Here is a cover of a song from their debut LP.
Almost sounds like James combined VENOM's - "In League With Satan" with "Pinhead " !

Jimi LaMort
NEW TOON from the unfinished MALHAVOC lp - 'ANTHEM S FOR THE NEW FLESH'!!!

EDIT:
I made a mistake, and NONE of you said anything?!
Ramones "Pinhead" was not on their debut, but the second studio LP,
last song, side one - Leave Home (1977)

Not sure I like this

Ok

I know Jimi Lamort is the superb dj/mixer/producer,
BUT
I will always want the original speed metal / thrash metal /black metal / death metal James
from the 1980s.
THAT JAMES was phenomenal.

yeah, he,  helped /was the man to, originate the cyber punk genre stuff,  BUT I LOVE METAL.

ARGH, I am getting sick of the requests for the 1984 demos with Nigel, man !!!!
Put it out on vinyl, or cassette, or CD for fuck sakes!!!

Tribute song to James and malhavoc

by a Toronto,Ontario joke band,

DEATH TONGE - Possessed By James
from the
January 1988 Rehearsal demo ''All Bones, No Meat''

the ending includes voice samples of James taken off the telephone

download mp3 from here

DEATH TONGE was inspired by the New York noisy joke band Intense Mutilation, and the  newspaper comic strip ''Bloom County''.

link below
is for some more tracks off the demo, including the March 1988 ''Kill Rhonda's Fish'' rehearsal.

( Rhonda was a stripper who lived at the drummer's house, and was also a stage dancer/groupie of the glam-goth band SYLUM ).

The first MALHAVOC t-shirts

The first MALHAVOC t-shirts with the 'Age of the Dark Renaissance' cover on the front had this 'pact' on the back. Also the old 80's MALHAVOC geometric logo was also based on the Baalberith symbol.
Catholic priest Urbain Grandier was burned at the stake in 1634 for allegedly bewitching a convent full of nuns in the French town of Loudun. The accusation came about not because of what Grandier did, but rather because of what he didn’t...

Man, it took years to find this shirt again... and ...I promised to give it to another diehard fan ,especially of their "metal years" .... it is going eventually in the mail to a bassist in Texas!
(because he will probably be able to look ok in it with his small girly man chest, compared to my he-man, robust, beer belly!)
