MALHAVOC 1987-03-13 Friday March the 13th at ILDIKO'S (aka previously known as The Starwood, aka the Bridge), which was on Bloor Street 1/2 between between Bathurst and Spadina Avenue , Toronto, Ontario

the order of bands that night was -
first, Beyond (Bramalea,Ontario),
Holocaust (Meadowvale, Ontario),
and Malhavoc (Pickering, Ontario) were the headliners this show, I think, because the other 2 bands were offered it being more well known, but were cool and declined, thanking Malhavoc for setting it up, & putting out the flyers.

I could be wrong.
it isn't like that James is generous and the guy sweats and bleeds for music ...wait, he does do that!

You bastards will be pretty happy if he finds them and it is shared!

Big mistake on my part. Not recording and storing on chrome cassettes, or making duplicates, because Normal tapes usually didn't last (I would learn later).

I'm surprised that others haven't yet uploaded to youtube or somewhere, as James said in the 1980s there were a few diehard fans/friends in his neighbourhood since the start of the band that collected and recorded everything they did.

MALHAVOC official video for the song 'NAKED' from the 'GET DOWN' album.

The idea for this video was that the band were making their video and were not enjoying themselves posing for the camera, which was a reference to their previous 'Crusade' video. So the band walks off the set and on the way home they pass by many other bands making videos.

As you can see MALHAVOC used many friends in this video including a few from other Toronto bands....

The video is directed by Jason Romilly.

After MALHAVOC's GET DOWN album was released in 1994, they put on an all ages show on a Sunday at Sneak Dee's in Toronto.

MALHAVOC is Steve Jelliman on Bass, Chris 'SKID' Scahill on Guitar, John Carss on Drum and Back up vocals, and Jimi LaMort is playing an out of tune Guitar and butchering the lyrics on Naked.

MALHAVOC live at Lee's Palace in Toronto, 1989. This is the time just after the Thrash/Death Metal and before The Release album. When MALHAVOC first started to perform with a drum machine they played behind a video screen for the first few shows. This is perhaps the drum machine era Malhavoc, Rob and Jimi's first show in front of the screen.

Age of Desire was written about the Clive Barker story of the same name. Here are the lyrics.

Hey!

I didn't forgot about you,and I hope you didn't forget about one of the best thrash metal bands from the 1980s because soon I will upload more live and rehearsal tracks I have again.

A little bummed out that some tracks are missing, however that is how I mailed some of these out back in the day. The July 1987 rehearsal is blowing my mind and reminds me again how much I thought MALHAVOC were as great as Destruction, Metallica, and Black Sabbath.

Thanks to my tapetrader friend who was cool enough to loan me the tapes.
I'll be sending him a bunch of more stuff, maybe entice him to look further in his old collections.

Thanks to a very old tape trader friend, here is the recording I made using a Sony mono walkman-type recorder, enhanced with a better microphone borrowed from another friend that night.
(I recorded most of the bands, but do not have them anymore.)

Fairly sure Malhavoc were playing halfway up the lineup, around 6 pm maybe, and CITY-TV 6'o clock News sent a camera to help the Benefit maybe get some more people in the door since it would still go on for hours.

Now that Canada Post's strike is over, I can get back to shipping/recieving mail, which means some really cool oldschool METAL I will share with you...eventually.

EDIT: JUST REMEMBERED, the first Malhavoc video might have been for Dunwich Horror, using Walt Disney's FANTASIA, and/or a very ancient cartoon or movie about H. P. Lovecraft's Dunwich Horror.
I have looked on the inetrnet and can't find even on wiki any old films from pre-1980 that would fit what I am thinking of. I only seen the video maybe once or twice years ago, and thought Malhavoc's self-made video of movie clips was on youtube in the last 2 or 3 years.
There are pages for Dunwich Horror there, will keep searching.

Good news....
I have been told I will get some very old Malhavoc back in my collection. so check back here in a few months.

I read their show last month was good, but have not seen a setlist or audio/video posted anywhere.

that Stephanie Heyens helped set up (and Oskar to some extent, but back then, he was kind of mean and crusty on some days like Billy Milano, so I think he stepped away)

Clip has brief shots of the trio, Shrine-era. Only footage that exists, as the cameraman or the tv station would only give James the master tape with maybe a complete song for $100,and he didn't have it back then, or didn't think it was worth it, so they probably taped over it.

That was the show where everybody thought James puked onstage.
I forget the story because I couldn't see from sitting in the very back on the stands, me and a friend were recording it to get a good sound.
Maybe James had dry heaves?
How do you know the date of this show if you have a copy (and have not shared it WITH US ?)
The crowd keeps yelling for a very old song of theirs to be played called "Sineater", but the drummer John C. had said back then he would never play it again.
